The Penal Code (Chapter 224)

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) invites public feedback on the draft Penal Code (Amendment) Bill.

The Penal Code (Chapter 224) is Singapore's primary criminal legislation, with 511 sections in all. Based on the Indian Penal Code, it last underwent a major review in 1984, when mandatory minimum sentences were imposed for offences such as robbery and rape. Enhanced penalties were also introduced in 1998 for specific offences, such as causing hurt or grievous hurt, when committed against foreign domestic workers
.

read the amended papers here~

this is what's its all about. the amending and altering of The Penal Code (Chapter 224).
im no LAW student and you can trust me on that.
besides having a poor handle, not even close to grasp, on the necessity in law known as common sense and powderful language which i have absolutely NONE, nill, 零, null, zéro. everyone who knows me can testify to that. i swear really ar~

anywayz....
it says in the papers and due to my lack of interest and time to read indepth into the published bill as well as the news report, i only managed to catch a few points.

1. anal and oral sex are legal? or not?? (im confused but people can still engage in them with the doors locked and the blinds all drawn up what... isnt it??)
2. you can be charged for raping your wife if she didnt want sex that night or whatever time it is.
3.prostitution overseas may be illegal if the law stated in Singapore is broken, such as engaging in a minor.
4.Bloggers can be charged if what they say causes a 'big enough' uproar in the people...
erm... Ms Elite? nah i dont think so.
5. higher and wider range of fines so that judges can impose fine on a guilty within a larger and more flexible range.

isnt it interesting that these laws are revised and reviewed so that it can follow and stand up to the test of time. soon my, gay friends, Singapore may even legalise gay marriages likewise to UK. isnt it interesting how these laws meant to discipline us are subject to pressure from us and are forced to adapt to our way of lives so that it remains valid.
go ahead read it, even if its for the fun of it!
who knows, you may find some loop-hole to bring up in their feedback at the bottom of their page or you can teach us how to get around it!
okay i never said that,
im in an unstable state of mind to produce anything sane and logical~ please dont sue me...!!

an elite versus non-academic-eliteS

my comment to a friend's entry on the Ms Wee Shu Min's blog entry that got a little to hot for the young girl : wa i like the way you go round the elite blah blah stuff, especially when she BooBoOed me cos im working full-time and studying full-time and probably would be the nderlying non-elites..sigh

well i felt as if i was slapped left right center by a rich 'poor' girl for being rather poor myself.
well i did not deny education nor do i consider myself a middle-class which i would be easily passed off as one.
im working FULL-TIME and studying FULL-TIME and im having a hard time maintaining my pockets with all the fees and basic life necessities which i proudly say is only SGD$300 excluding the SGD$98 dollars(round down to the new concession only for SBS for adults, crap). the thing is i feel that you ms wee is such a poor darling kept sheltered in your little palace with all the protection you can get. and we are thrown harshly into the cruel world left to fend for ourselves with whatever little knowledge and skills we have.
yes you say we didnt upgrade as what the government would describe. but its not that upgrading ourselves do not require the essential SGD$$ that we lack in the first place. we have just about enough to get by everyday happily and seriously there isnt more from us to cover costly education which usually require the other essential which to us = SGD$$, time. time taken off from work to school, time which we could do better with the extra SGD$$ from OverTime, time sacrificed from sleep to finish school matters and my rice-bowl's proposal for the important client. you dont know the stress and effort i have to put in so that i can perform in school and at the same time not conpensating my performance at work. nope my job isnt what you think im a doctor's assistant in an Oncology Clinic of private practice. PLEASE, try and attend to patients where your actions determine your patient's life and death, and at night resume your crappy behaviour as a student enjoying school life as we should. and if im not wrong my spelling isnt wrong at all for ONCOLOGY which in layman's term is CANCER.
now you would think that im bragging and all but i am not, unlike a certain someone else.

how many of you say hi to the toliet cleaner aunties and the valet parking uncles or the sweeper at your area every morning?? i do and i know them better than what many thought. i know the security guards and the bell boys at the hotels that i pass by everyday, not personally but an acquaintance of acknowledgement everytime i see them. now do YOU know the security guard uncle of your school and have you ever chat with them and be their friends?? yes? than good for you. they did choose to take jobs aka 'sai-gang' like this. and they are doing a good job at this. imagine a world without them! wow you have to wash the toliets yourselves girl. i dont believe you would like to do that, well i dont. besides i cant even clean my toliet to the satisfaction of my personal quality check. its simply not clean enough to compete! and i dare say that they are the ELITES in their field and we are our own ELITES in our field of speciality. i did sales before and 14 hours of selling per day isnt what you would have imagined if your sales is low and the customers are as snobbish and horrible as your attitude to us is or was. i didnt quit that job i just left them after the boss decided that i should do something better, better than what their sales job can provide me. they encouraged me to move onto a better job so that another can take my job and climb from there. my bosses are not exactly the ELITES of your world but they are definitely the ELITES of their field. i bet yor father cant do what they can. =P
peace out girl.
Singaporeans unite! we are known, although not as much as the Esplanade, but enough on our charitable and caring characteristics. why not show this girl some charity by giving her some slack for her ignorance and help her learn the cruel way the world works as she step into the society as one of us? she didnt choose to grow up sheltered and obscured from the truth, nor did she choose to have a rather less-sensitive environment to bath in. its simply the membrane that differentiates the lucky and the less fortunated people. well we are doing well enough at the moment isnt it, lets count everyday as a blessing while we plan and prepare for the rainy days ahead just in case yea? =)
while we have worked ourselves enough to enjoy what we have, let us enjoy our fruits uninterrupted by the trival take of a small girl on big people's troubles.

cheers!

a little something if you want to know the background of this saga

mom’s friend sent her some blog post by some bleeding stupid 40-year old singaporean called derek wee (WHY do all the idiots have my surname why?!) whining about how singapore is such an insecure place, how old ppl (ie, 40 and above) fear for their jobs, how the pool of foreign “talent” (dismissively chucked between inverted commas) is really a tsunami that will consume us all (no actually he didn’t say that, he probably said Fouren Talern Bery Bad.), how the reason why no one wants kids is that they’re a liability in this world of fragile ricebowls, how the government really needs to save us from inevitable doom but they aren’t because they are stick-shoved-up-ass elites who have no idea how the world works, yadayadayadayada.
i am inclined - too much, perhaps - to dismiss such people as crackpots. stupid crackpots. the sadder class. too often singaporeans - both the neighborhood poor and the red-taloned socialites - kid themselves into believing that our society, like most others, is compartmentalized by breeding. ridiculous. we are a tyranny of the capable and the clever, and the only other class is the complement.
sad derek attracted more than 50 comments praising him for his poignant views, joining him in a chorus of complaints that climax at the accusation of lack of press freedom because his all-too-true views had been rejected by the straits times forum. while i tend to gripe about how we only have one functioning newspaper too, i think the main reason for its lack of publication was that his incensed diatribe was written in pathetic little scraps that passed off as sentences, with poor spelling and no grammar.
derek, derek, derek darling, how can you expect to have an iron ricebowl or a solid future if you cannot spell?
if you’re not good enough, life will kick you in the balls. that’s just how things go. there’s no point in lambasting the government for making our society one that is, i quote, “far too survival of fittest”. it’s the same everywhere. yes discrimination exists, and it is sad, but most of the time if people would prefer hiring other people over you, it’s because they’re better. it’s so sad when people like old derek lament the kind of world that singapore will be if we make it so uncertain. go be friggin communist, if uncertainty of success offends you so much - you will certainly be poor and miserable. unless you are an arm-twisting commie bully, which, given your whiny middle-class undereducated penchant, i doubt.
then again, it’s easy for me to say. my future isn’t certain but i guess right now it’s a lot brighter than most people’s. derek will read this and brand me as an 18-year old elite, one of the sinners who will inherit the country and run his stock to the gutter. go ahead. the world is about winners and losers. it’s only sad when people who could be winners are marginalised and oppressed. is dear derek starving? has dear derek been denied an education? has dear derek been forced into child prostitution? has dear derek had his clan massacred by the government?
i should think not. dear derek is one of many wretched, undermotivated, overassuming leeches in our country, and in this world. one of those who would prefer to be unemployed and wax lyrical about how his myriad talents are being abandoned for the foreigner’s, instead of earning a decent, stable living as a sales assistant. it’s not even about being a road sweeper. these ****bags don’t want anything without “manager” and a name card.
please, get out of my elite uncaring face.

her public apology on one of the blogs that were discussing her entry :
i apologise if i have distressed you with my tendency to rant. while i will not dispute some of the points you make in response to what i have written, i would like to bring to your attention the fact that the post in question was never meant to be a cogent response to the specific points raised in derek wee’s article. it is, quite obviously, a rant in the heat of the moment. in addition, i don’t believe that my blog has the wide readership of derek wee’s, or even your own, and my intention was more to vent my own frustrations than public denouncement.
i’d also like to clarify my use of the word “elite”. while i understand how misinterpretation may have arose, i intended to use it in irony, as a label that people assume i enjoy, and not one that i take particular pleasure in.
finally, i admit that i was harsher than i should have been, although the the crux of my belief in self-improvement and self-determination has not changed. once again, i apologise if my words have unintentionally offended you - i was under the rather naive impression that nobody reads my blog
